Yay, my brief is finished!!!
I'm not sure it was any good (surprise surprise), but at least it's over with. Now I have three classes and then it's the weekend!
I'm going to try to use this weekend to get caught up on my classes that I neglected this week due to the briefy. Oh, and on finishing Season 2 of Weeds... I just got a Netflix subscription and I'm obsessed! It's so funny.
Off to class, adios loves!

Slow going...
Brief due tomorrow and it is sloooooow going..
One of these days I'm not going to procrastinate (yeah right).
Why is it that I can't seem to even figure out what the hell the topic is about until less than 24 hours before these things are due?
On a somewhat-related note... I keep going back and forth between thinking that I'm totally too dumb for law school and I should have figured out something else to do with my life to thinking that I'm not too dumb for law school, I just need to care more and procrastinate less. Ugh.
The good news is that in 15 hours this will all be over.
Sugarfree-redbull vodkas in my belly in 18 hours, yay!

Keyboard Bangers
Dear girl who sits in front of me,
If you keep banging on your keyboard, I'm going to cut your fingers off.
XoXo,
Fabbie
Seriously... what the hell is the deal with that?! It is SO obnoxious. And I swear this is like the thid one that has claimed a seat RIGHT by me in class this year. Why do I attract these mutants? UGHHH!
Am I being a total freak for being so annoyed at this?

Another week down...
Week 2 of the semester is dunzo, yay! It certainly flew by, which is great because I'm really excited for this weekend (ski trip with friends in Wisconsin), but not so great because now I only have 1 week to write my trial brief and I have accomplished absolutely nothing. Yuck!
We're not leaving for skiing until tomorrow evening and I have no classes on Friday, so I'm planning on spending a good chunk of the day tomorrow getting research done so I can start writing ASAP after I return on Sunday.
In other news - Con. Law is absolutely miserable. I thought it wouldn't be so bad because it's generally a first year course and I'm just now taking it in my fourth semester of law school, so it seems like I should have this thing down by now, right? Nope.
I read for class, take notes on the reading, have a good understanding of what's going on, and then once he starts talking during class, I don't have a damn clue what's going on. Ugh. It's really early in the semester to be so frustrated!
Now I'm off to get a good nite's rest and to hopefully have a productive day tomorrow (fingers crossed!)

I love W.
"A good man took the oath of office today, and we offer him our prayers for success." - George W. Bush
I concur.
I concur.
Inauguration Day!
I feel like I'm obligated to discuss the inauguration... So I will just say this:
Congratulations to Barack Obama. The President of the United States of America will always have my respect.
George W. Bush... Thank you for keeping us safe for the past 8 years. Enjoy your retirement.
And to everyone else... Please remember that the 45% of Americans who voted did NOT vote for Obama. He won, and I won't take that away from him. It was an incredible, historic victory that shows how far America has come, but not all of us are fans. And those of us who didn't vote for him are not racist, we just have different views.
Here's hoping the GOP can find someone to inspire the country the way Obama has.

Productive Weekend
I swear one of these days I'm going to have a productive weekend.
Well... Let me clarify that: some weekend, I will get a lot of stuff done, and at least some of it will be law school related.
I actually got a ton of stuff done this weekend, just none of it was for school, which is really too bad because I have a ton of work I need to get done!! Looks like starting with the weekend after next I'm going to have to force myself to get in some quality library time on Fridays at the very least (no classes on Friday for me this semester!).
This weekend I did finally finish my application to sit for the bar, whoohoo!!! I started it in December and said I'd have it finished before I went back to school in January, but of course that didn't happen. But at least it's done now! Yay! And seriously... What a colossal pain in the rear that thing was!
This weekend I also did some cooking (made a yummy soup in the crock pot so I'll be feasting on leftovers from that all week), and listed a bunch of books on Amazon. Hopefully I can get a couple sold and make some easy cash!
Also took the dog to the dog beach today since it warmed up a little... And by warmed up I mean the high was 17 degrees. So sad.
So yeah, not an unproductive weekend at all, just didn't get any reading done and didn't work on my brief at all... Ugh!
Hope everyone had a good weekend and is ready for the week ahead!

mobile blogging
I feel like most of the time I feel like blogging something I'm on my phone instead of at my computer, so I finally broke down and paid the $.99 for iBlog for my iPhone.
What did I ever do before smart phones? I mean I've been on this bandwagon for a while... I got a sidekick in college, then had a treo, now the iPhone. iPhone obviously is the best, but I've never even really tried blackberries, so maybe I'd love them too?
K, gonna take a little napski with the dog before tackling this weeks reading.

Take-Home Hell
I am currently in take-home final hell. This final isn't all that difficult, it is just a lot of writing and TAKES FOREVER. Ugh.
I just want to sleep.

So much to do already....
Well I survived week 1... whooohooo!
It's quite possible that this semester is going to be the most boring 14 weeks of my life. I hate that. But I might actually be able to make a couple of decent grades, and if that's the case, then I'll take a couple months of boredom. Of course, I thought I'd make better grades than I did last semester.
I already have a brief due in 2 weeks. Ugh. I'm going to be out of town next weekend right before it's due, so I'm going to spend this weekend doing some work on it (hopefully!). Let's see how this plan to not procrastinate goes...

Day 3
Day 3 of Classes... only 1 class again today: A constitutional law class about religion and the 1st amendment. Seems like it should be sort of interesting, but kinda a lot of reading and my teacher is kind of hard to understand (dude is OLD!), but hopefully that means I'll pay really good attention?
In other news - the HIGH temperature for tomorrow in Chicago is -2 degrees.
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. I thought LAST winter was the one that people were saying was way more awful than usual?! THIS IS AWFUL.
I mean it's really bad. Thank God the dog is going to daycare tomorrow... she's got serious cabin fever. I don't blame her... it's too cold to go for walks or play outside. I am dreading the walk to take her there tomorrow though, that's for sure! Ugh.
Alright... I'm off to get my reading done for tomorrow. I'm trying really hard not to get behind!

Day 2 of Classes
Well... today was day 2 of classes.
Mediation was yesterday... seems like it should be good. The actual class is kinda boring, but I don't think there's going to be a whole lot of work with it. And the class is small enough that there isn't a curve, which the teacher said hopefully means she gets to give out 20 A's. Wouldn't that be lovely?!
Today I had Con. Law.... Snooze. I have a feeling this semester is going to be suuuuper boring.
Tomorrow I have my First Amendment Religion Issues class... here's hoping that's not boring. Otherwise this semester is going to be brutal.
Not sure how I'm going to manage to get my grades up when I'm bored to tears... Yikes.

Classes Starting Already?!
Classes are starting again already?! Ugh.
And to top it off, I'm still missing one of my grades. And it's from my teacher who turned out to be a total flake all semester. Big surprise that she hasn't finished grading our papers yet.
Awesome.

Christian radio
So, over the last week and a half, I've made quite a few road trips:
- Dallas to Houston
- Houston to Austin
- Austin to Dallas
- Dallas to Chicago.
That much driving means scanning through a lot of radio stations. Inevitably a Christian station always comes on... whether it's a Christian talk show or Christian music. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel REALLY guilty when they skip over the Christian music? I mean, I love ya God, but I just don't want to listen to that. And I feel bad about it.
Damn me and my Catholic guilt!

Road Trip!
Well... The dog, brother, and I will be making the journey from Texas back to the Windy City tomorrow... Driving. Ick.
My parents don't want me to drive the 15 hours by myself (which I appreciate), but neither of them want to do it with me (which I totally understand), so they're bribing my brother to go with me (which I am THRILLED about! [sarcarsm]).
We'll be together the first part of the trip, then I'll drop him off in St. Louis tomorrow and he'll fly back home, and I'll make the end of the journey by myself. Well, sort of by myself... the dog will be with me. But I give her sedatives for these long journeys, so she's not much good as far as keeping anyone company.
I cannot waaaait for the next 24 hours to be OVER!

Still no grades...
One month since my first final and still no grades. I don't even remember if I thought the finals were hard anymore. Okay that's not true, I remember sort of, but I'm already trying to look forward to the new year/semester, etc., and I can't even put last semester to bed. So annoying!

2009 is here....
2009 is here! Whoohoo!
I don't know what to say about that except it means that it's been 2 years since the year I graduated from college (sad) and only one year away from the year when I will (hopefully!) graduate from law school!
Fun weekend ahead of me, visiting college friends and my cousin (since you're reading this now - hey!), then back to the freezing cold next week. Eeep!
Also... Seriously. My first exam was December 5th. It's January 1st. Can I get a damn grade yet? What in the hell is taking so long?!
I mean I understand why some exams do/should take a long time to grade. But my Dec. 5th final was a class of 7 people. Teacher doesn't have any other classes. The last exam I took was ALL multiple choice. Where the hell are those grades?!
