7 weeks

As of today we're 7 weeks out from the Texas Bar Exam.

Still SO much time left but really not that much time at all.

I don't have a whole lot going on in January and February (a baby shower, an engagement party, and a wedding), which is one of the reasons why studying for the February bar is a bazillion times better than studying for the July bar.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well I've done on the torts MBE sections I've done, considering I haven't looked at these questions in quite a while. I'm not so surprised at how much of the contracts stuff I don't remember. I'm hoping my memory will be refreshed as I keep looking at it, but yesterday was not a good bar study day.

Other random thoughts:
- I'm trying to figure out a time to make a trip to Champaign for a basketball game. This is kind of difficult because of the whole studying thing, and for the time being my car is in Dallas (with Dirk), so getting down there is a bit of a logistical issue. I suppose I could always do the amtrak, but I think that's more crazy than I can handle right now.

- We need snow.
I never thought I'd be someone who wants snow, but I want it. It's freaking cold, there might as well be some snow on the ground. And when I look outside, I want to see THIS,

as opposed to what I see right now, which is this:

Gross.

- Mom is going through chemo and radiation and all that jazz. I know I'm especially useless from Chicago, but it really makes me wish I had some sort of medical training so that I could be even sort of useful. This weekend she made a trip to the ER (bronchitis, because that's what every chemo patient needs!), and I hate not being able to offer any advice besides "uhhh... you should see if they can give you an IV so you stay hydrated?"

- I blogged a while back about buying a refurbished MacBook Air and have had a bunch of people ask about it. Now that I've had it about 6 months I can confidently say that I love it. Seriously, LOVE it. It is so tiny and fast and amazing. And I can't even tell it's refurbished, it feels like brand new. They don't always have them available online but if anyone was wondering about pulling the trigger on a refurbished Apple product, I highly recommend it.

- When I was in St. Louis a couple weeks ago I forgot eyeliner and borrowed from a friend (how many people just cringed at the germy grossness of that statement?). Germs aside - I have a new eyeliner obsession.

It's a little heavy/dramatic for during the day (I rarely wear eyeliner during the day at all, but I definitely wouldn't wear this one), but it's perrrrfect for evening.
Applies like a pencil but looks/feels like a liquid.

Alright, I'm off to track down some answers from someone in administrative court (different answer for every phone call I make, the Chicago way!) and to get some studying done.

Happy Tuesday, folks.

  1. I keep thinking about your Mom - hope the bronchitis clears up soon.

My brother got me a refurbished iTouch back in like 2006 and it was totally amazing and badass and still works. I have been a fan of refurbished Apple products ever since!

Also, yes, snow in Chicago would probably be a gorgeous addition. I am surprised y'all haven't had any yet. Weird.

I know you will do great on the bar if you just keep yourself motivated and don't get pulled down with too many distractions. I know you know how to break things apart to make studying easier so I keep just the motivation part is all I can say... YOO CAN DOO EET!!

  2. I bought my mom a refurbished iPad this Xmas, and it is also great.

My mom is fighting the big C also. It sucks. :(

I missed something. Why are you taking another bar exam?

  3. I'm on my third refurbed Mac product and have loved them all, no issues whatsoever. My MacBook has been going strong since 2006 and gives me no excuse to upgrade anytime soon.

Hope your mom gets to feeling better very soon.
