More Dirk pics/details

I weighed Mr. Dirk on Tuesday and at 8 weeks and 2 days old he was 22.5 pounds.  Gonna be a big boy, no question.

I kept a spreadsheet of Elle's weights starting when she was 30 pounds at 10 weeks. I have a feeling Dirk is going to be a lot bigger than Elle, so I'm excited to compare their two charts!

I have to carry him outside because he will pee the second he wakes up/gets out of the crate, and it can sometimes be a long wait for the elevator/down 52 floors, down a hall, through the parking garage, and then out to the dog run. So to avoid having to clean up accidents, I just carry him out. He is walking back in on the leash though and is doing really well, considering Monday night was the first time he had ever been on a leash!

I'd like to think that my upper body soreness today is from doing really heavy push presses at CrossFit yesterday, but I think it has to do with carrying a 4 legged wiggle worm.

Most of the pics I have of him are either blurry or sleeping... if he's awake it's party time.
I got a fairly fancypants new camera from my aunts for Christmas. I really need to learn how to use it other than on Auto. But the Auto pics are pretty good...

LOVES eating my hair/earrings/watch

Thinks that I'm a jungle gym.

And sleeps a lot

And in case anyone is wondering how Avery Jenkins feels about the newest addition...

She just stares at him. And yesterday she swatted his ear and made him bleed. Bitch! haha

He's been sleeping pretty well and doesn't mind going in his crate. I've found that if I wait until he's about to be asleep anyway to put him in the crate he's too tired to whine/cry and he'll just crash in there. Yesterday when I got home from the gym and went to get him out of the crate to go outside he seemed genuinely annoyed at me for waking him up. I ended up being too big of a wimp with Elle and gave up on the crate and let her sleep with me, and I'd really like to keep him crated and out of my bed, so I hope this keeps up!

Speaking of sleeping, just got this pic on my phone and died at the cuteness.

He's here he's here!

He's tall, he's blonde, he's of German descent...

Meet Dirk Nowoofzki the Great Dane!!!!!

See the resemblance?

 His namesake, duh.

Brought him home today. He is as sweet as can be.

He has to wear the cone thing on his head a few more weeks and then 4-5 months of taping so that his ears stand up tall and pretty like his mommas. The breeder cropped the ears because she was going to show him and cropping is pretty standard for show Danes, although it's becoming acceptable to leave them natural (like Elle's were). And I love how they look. And no I don't care if you think it's cruel.

Housebreaking and crate training and leash walking and all that other puppy stuff is going to be a whipping, but he's so sweet. We are already having lots of fun. :)

Will try to take some better pics on my nice camera, but just wanted to post these for now!

Could be 1 week...

I never wanted this blog to be a place where I do nothing but bitch and moan.

... Actually, that isn't true. That's exactly why I started this blog. But I didn't want it to be a "poor pitiful me my life is so hard wahhhh" type of bitching and moaning... more of a "Dear God people in law school are so annoying" type of bitching and moaning. There's a difference.

I haven't been blogging or tweeting much lately because I haven't had much to say except to complain, and even I'm sick of my own complaining.

I'm currently job searching. As a lot of you probably know, job searching sucks, so I won't go into details of that.

It can be pretty dang hard to keep a positive attitude, but today it's 82 degrees and beautiful outside, and I could be getting a puppy as soon as next week.

It's hard not to be really excited when looking at this sweet mug:

I won't know for sure until next week if he's mine or if I'm waiting 6 more weeks for the next litter, but crossing my fingers that he's mine!!!!
No place I'd rather be on this beautiful day than at the dog beach!
