Halloween
Happy Halloween Week!
I'm not in to dressing up (last year was the first year I've dressed up since I was a kid and probably won't do it again for a while), but I do love Halloween. I love scary movies, I love the fun decorations, I love seeing kids so excited about their fun costumes, and of course I love candy.
To prepare for Halloween this year, I went and saw Paranormal Activity 3 last night... I loved it. It's pretty freaking scary, but it didn't keep me up all night or anything like that.
I rarely hate having an apartment, but this time of the year I really wish I had more space so I could have and store decorations!
A friend sent me this today and I thought it was awesome (watch the whole 4 minutes... it's so cool).
Is it weird to enjoy Halloween but hate dressing up? It's so annoying to come up with something that isn't totally skanky and doesn't cost a million dollars to put together.
I'm perfectly okay with going out Saturday night and enjoying everyone else's costumes and then sitting on my couch actual Halloween night and passing out candy and watching scary movies.

But I cannot leave you with a picture from last year.... Still cracks me up every time I see it.

NYC!
This week I booked a trip to New York for December! I am so excited... I've only been to NYC once before, and I was in 7th grade, so I imagine it'll be a different trip this time.
I got a ticket for cheap and am staying with my friend Paisley Pearls at her apartment, so it will be a cheap trip. Which means I can spend my money on shopping and eating!
Those of you who have been recently - Suggestions for places to shop/eat/drink/sightsee?

Elle Woods Wednesday
She's Back!!!!
Big things have been happening around these parts... most importantly: last weekend I went home, bought a car, and retrived Elle Woods from her 10 month sabbatical in Texas!!!!
We laid by the pool and relaxed for a few days before we made the trek back to Chicago..
Then Elle was my attentive copilot for the 15 hour drive from Dallas to Chicago
(we stopped in STL for the night Saturday to visit friends)
The new car met my only requirement (Elle-colored interior)
as well as Elle's only requirement - sunroof!!!
And now we're back! We went out for frozen yogurt Monday night to celebrate Elle's triumphant return to the windy city....
And of course she got her own cup! Yummy!
Side note: I've been so busy lately... I think I've been out of town almost every weekend this fall. But I'm back and settled in for a while. I've gotten so many emails from people who failed the bar exam and who are looking for tips/tricks for how to pass the next time. First of all - I'm so sorry. I wish I could give you all a big hug and buy you a beer. Second of all - look for a big long blog post next week with what I did/didn't do and what I thought made the difference for me getting over the hump and finally passing that stupid test. I am also going to send out an email to all my friends/anyone I know who failed and then later passed with their advice. (if you're one of those friends and you read this blog - reply to my email!)
So also if you are one of those who failed the bar exam and then later passed - if you could shoot me an email with any advice you have, it would be much appreciated!
Happy Wednesday!

Pass Present!
My mom purchased me this suit to wear for my swearing in ceremony next month/as a present for passing the bar. She ordered it online and it came in last week and I am obsessed with it.
It's super comfy, fits really well, etc.... I will definitely be buying more Nipon in the future!
So excited to have a sassy red power suit!

Hang in there
Every time I get an email or a comment or a tweet from someone who failed the bar exam, I want to cry for them. Because OMG IT SUCKS. I've even had a hard time "celebrating" my passing because I feel so badly for the people who failed.
I honestly don't even feel that excited about it; it's more of a sense of relief.

I will have a longer post coming in the next few weeks about what I think did/didn't work for me with each time I took the bar exam. I hope at the very least my experience will help someone avoid failing again, or maybe even avoid failing the first time.
For now I just wanted to say HANG IN THERE to anyone who is reading this who has recently gotten the news no one wants to hear about this stupid test. It will all be okay.
And as I told the fourth grader I babysit while helping her with her homework yesterday... Please don't call yourself stupid. It isn't nice to call anyone stupid. You're not stupid.

Purging
I cannot even describe how great it was to come home and unload my bookshelf of all these bar study materials.
Some are being passed on to a friend who is re-taking, but a majority went straight in to the recycling bin.
Adios.
