75 Years

Here's a link to a sweet story about my great aunt Bina and uncle Bob (my dad's aunt and uncle) who are celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary. Bina is almost 100 and Bob is 95.

Dude... the people in my family live forever.

My favorite part about the story is that Bob says he doesn't believe in divorce. Whoopsies.
Also - Bina is five years older. Maybe I oughta start lookin for 21 year olds?

Opening Day!

Today is opening day of my pool!

And for once... I'm so so so very glad that it's currently 61 degrees and raining in Chicago and NOT 90 and sunny. Because it is OH SO HARD to turn down cold beers in the warm sun on a beautiful day to sit inside and study.

But when it's crappy out there's really not much to do anyway. So I study. Or blog about studying. WHATEVER.
Tomorrow I celebrate friends birthdays, and Monday I cross my fingers for nice weather on a day off from work for some pool time!

Hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend!

RuPaul's Drag Race Audition

I tweeted this earlier this evening but it's worth blogging as well...

This is my friend Precious Jewel's audition tape for Season 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race.

She is so talented and absolutely hilarious... I am obsessed with this video!

Crabby

It's Monday, I'm at work, I have no voice, and I have to start studying for the bar exam today.

I could not be more crabby if I tried.

I still honestly kind of cannot believe that I'm about to have to start studying for the freaking bar exam again. SERIOUSLY?!
Ugh.

St. Louis

This weekend the Faux Trixie and Judgy Amie and I are roadtripping to Saint Louis to see the Life of Marge!!!

I'm going to drink the city dry and eat ChickFilA and Ted Drewes (whatever the hell that is).

I am also going to be meeting up with a couple of friends from college, so it should be a hell of a weekend.

If I survive I'll be back on Monday!

It begins again.

Seriously.

I can't even begin to express how much I DO NOT WANT TO STUDY FOR THE BAR EXAM AGAIN.

However I don't want to be an unlicensed JD living below poverty level any longer either.

CONUNDRUM.

I'm getting a little bit done today. Starting with the MBE/Multistate Edge stuff so they can "assess my strengths and weaknesses" and tell me what to study. And by they I mean the computer.
Then on Sunday I put together a study plan.
Then on Monday I start studying.

HOORAY SUMMER!

Haven't done an updated workout playlist in a while and had some requests, so here's what I'm bumping lately.

Catching up

An update on what's been going on around these parts...

I've been cat-sitting for my friend Brad's cat while he's on vacation in Costa Rica (tough life, right?).

She's a wild thing but super sweet and makes me laugh.
Her name is Avery Jenkins and she should probably get a job working for the circus.

Also - the tulips have finally bloomed!!! I know this happened like 2 months ago in other parts of the country but spring took it's sweet time coming in Chicago this year.

And the TRUE sign that spring has sprung... There are boats in the harbor and golf course is green!!! It's a little foggy today but 84 degrees and beautiful outside!

It's amazing how much of a difference a little sunshine makes in my life!

Adventures in Babysitting

So I've been babysitting for a family that lives close to me for over a month now. I've gotten to know all the kids pretty well at this point, and it's exhausting and great birth control but I actually really enjoy it.

Since there are 3 kids and dad travels a lot, I'm more of a "mother's helper" than a sitter, because a lot of the time the mom is home but just needs an extra adult to run errands, help with homework, pick up at soccer practice, etc.

Yesterday after I did the lacrosse drop off I made dinner and did homework with the boy while the parents went to a work dinner and one of the girls was at lacrosse and the other was getting ready for bed.

I was almost done with dinner when he asked me to check over his math answers.

I look and say "looks good except for that last one."
And he says "that one's right!"
And I said "no look at it again. One quarter plus five nickels plus three pennies is NOT 53 cents."
boy: "yes it is!!!"
me: re-count on my fingers...  "oh, yeah... You're right. Good job!"

Boy: "Are you SURE you went to college?"

And I just died laughing.

Maybe they accidentally gave me second grade math on the bar exam?
