I had to make the tough decision to let Elle Woods go. I'll miss her tons, but I'm glad she's not sick anymore. She was more loved and spoiled in 4.5 years than most dogs are in 15.
I hope doggie heaven has comfy couches and giant dog beaches.
Give your 4-legged companions an extra hug for me today.
Oh no I'm so sorry!! So awful. Hugs from NY!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me so sad for you! You will be in my thoughts!
ReplyDeleteOMG I originally found your blog because of your Great Dane and although I hardly ever post I had to today. What happened? I am so sad and I'm sure you are besides yourself. I loved hearing about your adventures with Elle. My Kasha (who will be 10 years old in January) send our prayers and thoughts to you during this sad time. Danes are so different than other dogs and only another dane lover can understand what you are going through at this time.

ReplyDeleteHugs and prayers to you from Texas. Have been reading your blog for a bit now and will miss your stories of beautiful Elle.

ReplyDeleteI am so so so sorry.
Rest assured, dog heaven has got to be absolutely awesome.
xoxo
I'm giving my husky a big squeeze as I read this. From reading your blog for quite some time now, I know Elle was an amazing dog and you yourself were an amazing momma to her. I'll be thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteI'm heartbroken for you. Sending love, hugs and comfort your way. Elle was beyond loved and we all know it! Thinking of you...
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. Elle woods was the queen of the pups in blog land. My heart hurts for you today. I can loan my puggle to you if you need some extra pup love.
ReplyDeleteI know how hard it is to make that tough decision. I am so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteoh no!! sorry about your loss :(

Oh no! I am so sorry. I'm going to give my 10-year old dane, Eleanor, a big hug tonight (even though she'll give me the "Sheesh Mom. Give me some personal space" look.) I rescued my baby when she was seven and I know that we're on borrowed time now due to some huge lumps in her mammory glands.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll be with your family this Christmas to help you through this rough time.
this just makes me so sad. i'm sorry girlie. it hurt so much when my dog I grew up with died. but there is comfort in knowing they aren't in pain anymore.
ReplyDeleteI am so so so sorry :(
ReplyDeleteIf all dogs go to heaven, that's where I want to go. My heart hurts for you. You did the right thing.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so, so sorry. You are in my thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI am so, so sorry! Thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteI started crying as soon as I saw the title. I am so sorry. I wonder if she knew how many lives she touched.
ReplyDeleteElle Woods had a fabulous life! And, we are all so glad we got to know her through you. Please know her antics will be missed by many.
ReplyDeleteAll dogs go to Heaven; how could such great creatures from God not?
So, so sorry! I teared up a little reading this. I had to put my schnauzer Homer down in June. At least she's not in pain anymore. I'll give my little Nellie a hug for you tonight!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read this!! I've loved reading about her adventures on your blog. Sending you hugs!! :)
ReplyDeleteI hated to hear this and am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Elle was lucky to have such a good doggy mom.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for you loss. Losing a pet is a terrible thing to go through, especially when we have to make the decision. But you put her first and that's the most selfless thing we can do as owners. You were such an amazing dog momma - you inspired me to be better. And I did give extra snuggle time to my pup this morning before work in Elle's honor. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteLegally Fab - I am so sorry for your loss. I had to make that choice 2 days before Christmas about 4 years ago. Its so so so hard to make an adult decision like this - it was a selfless thing to do, and I can only echo what TUWAVBV says - you are a great doggy mom, and you did the right and selfless thing. Lots of virtual hugs and doggie heaven indeed has beaches & comfy couches. I choose to believe that it also has endless supply of greenies, sleeping in the bed and steaks. Lots of love from Florida...
ReplyDeleteGoodness, that has to be one of the hardest decisions to make. You made a selfless one, for sure. Prayers your way during this time.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, hun I am SO sorry!!!! Sending you a ton of hugs today! And I hear that doggie heaven is wayyy better than human heaven. Praying for you!

I am so, so sorry to hear about your loss. I can only imagine the feeling of losing such a beloved part of the family and my heart sinks every time I think that one day I'll have to say goodbye to my own pups. I'm sure this was an extremely difficult decision to make, but it was an extremely selfless thing to do. I do believe there is a doggie heaven for our four legged friends and I'm sure Elle is having a grandiose time there :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Zilla. Sending you thoughts today. Elle will be missed!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss! You were such an amazing mommy to Elle. I hope that Elle has found my lab Tiller in doggy heaven and that they're playing together! Sending you thoughts from VA!

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this. Two weeks ago, I had to make the same decision with my cat. It just felt like it happened so fast. It was an awful decision to have to make, but I couldn't watch her suffer any longer. I'm sure you had the same thoughts. You were a good doggy mommy and I know you made the right decision. Again, I'm so sorry.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. I've been a long time reader of your blog and saw your twitter updates yesterday. My heart aches for you, and I'm keeping you in my thoughts. You were such a great mom to Elle, and I hope that knowing how much she was loved and cared for brings you some peace during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteI'm so so sorry.

ReplyDeleteoh no- i am so, so sorry. that has to be so hard for you...but at least she isn't suffering anymore. big hugs <3
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss - a member of the family.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your furbaby. We lost our Great Dane {Skie} about two months ago and it's hard. I found your blog through a Tweet from a person I follow. {I don't even remember who now} I hate I came to it after such terrible circumstances, but hopefully it will get better.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, I am so incredibly sorry! So sad for you. What a great friend she was to you.
ReplyDeleteMy dog is everything to me, so I struggle to even come up with words that express how sad I am for your loss. I never knew Elle Woods personally but I could tell she was loved...immensely.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear of your loss. A dog is truly man's best friend. Such a beautiful picture of the two of you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Elle. I've loved reading about her over the past couple of years.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry to hear this. Prayers that she is running on the heaven doggie beach and getting delicious treats.
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your blog from PIPM and loved reading about your dog (since I am a fellow large breed dog lover myself).
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely heart-breaking when you lose a pet but knowing that the suffering is gone and that they are in a much better place is very reassuring.
After I put down my 14 year old black lab in early 2009, I knew I needed another companion and by the end of the 2009 I purchased not one but 2 black labs. On our car ride home from the breader, I told them that they have big shoes to fill!
I hope that in the future you'll get another great dog to love the same.
-Lauren
