Official!

My mom took a picture of my friend and I from the ceremony on Thursday, but she hasn't emailed it to me so this will have to do for now.

The ceremony was quick and painless (less than an hour),  and then we had a celebratory lunch with lots of champagne after. My parents came, my boss, and two of my girlfriends who are my biggest supporters. It was so nice to have everyone there and I felt so loved!

After the ceremony my parents and I went to Nordstrom and they bought me a few blazers that were on Half-Yearly Sale that I can use with pants/skirts I already known to make psuedo-suits (one black, one tan, and one burnt orange). Of course my mom had them shipped home and I'm going to be getting them for Christmas presents (boo!), but I'm glad to know that they're coming.

Last week I worked Monday - Wednesday, then my parents came in town for swearing in.
The person whose job I am taking over was there with me in the office showing me the ropes last week, but she's gone now. So today is my first day all alone. Eeep! I'm excited about it, but a little nervous.

Not sure if I mentioned this, but my office is in the suburbs, 30 miles from my house. Having done the drive a few times last week I've figured out that I basically need to be on the road by 6:30 in the morning or else traffic is a nightmare and it takes significantly longer. Last Tuesday I left my house at 6:40 and was in the office at 7:45, and last Wednesday I left at 7 and didn't get there until 8:45. Not thrilled about waking up so early since I'm not exactly a morning person, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

It's weird to be back in to the driving to work/commuting routine... it's been 8.5 years since I last drove on a regular basis (in high school!). At UofI I had a car but didn't drive every day (only to the grocery store and random places), and since I moved to Chicago I've been taking public transportation and just commuting to downtown via the bus.  However the commuting thing isn't too weird/new to me - when I turned 16 we lived in a north suburb of Dallas (Plano, for you locals), which was almost 20 miles from my school. So I basically turned 16 and immediately started driving in traffic and commuting every day. I don't love it but I don't really think it's a huge deal.

K that's all I've got for now... Sorry this post was kinda random, just had several things on my mind I wanted to blog about but hadn't gotten around to it since my parents were in town!
