NOT GUILTY NOT GUILTY NOT GUILTY.
I honestly can't even remember the last time I've been this happy.
#1 on my bucket list: Dallas Mavericks win the Championship
#2 on my bucket list: Free Casey
#3 on my bucket list: Pass the Bar exam.
On to the next one.
Atta babe.
ReplyDeleteWhile I ultimately think she probably (certainly) did do it, I agree that the jury got this dead right. There was reasonable doubt splashed all over this case, just like Baez said. To have found her guilty would've been more of an injustice. I'm proud of this jury for sticking to the evidence and the rule of law instead of letting emotion and easy assumptions intervene.
ReplyDeleteI agree with My Legal Union.. You know, putting to good use everything that I learned in high school Mock Trial, there was an overwhelming lack of evidence and the prosecution could not prove (keyword) that she, in fact, was guilty. Isn't everyone a lawyer when it comes to sensational news such as this? Happy Birthday Elle... ;o)
ReplyDeleteHappy for you LF- I can't pretend to know enough about the details of the case to have an opinion but I completely agree that there was reasonable doubt and am proud of that jury for its verdict! Despite all the idiotic comments on my facebook, justice prevailed here.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite blog post ever.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to email you, but I can't seem to find an email address posted. This post seems the best to leave my question on. I've noticed your strong views on the CA trial on Twitter and occasionally here. Are your opinions because there was a lack of evidence or do you believe, as someone who has interacted with her, it was a complete accident? In which case, why would she not report the accident? I hope you publish the CA post you considered writing because I would like to read more than a 140 characters.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I hope the bar exam is smooth sailing for you because I read your blog for the Elle posts! Can't wait for her to be back!
Leading a Colorful Life - I don't really have anything to say other than things that have already been reported. It's simply a matter of looking at the facts.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you do if your father had been sexually abusing you your entire life and your daughter drowned and he told you he'd take care of it?
I have no idea what I would do.
I'd like to think that I'd call 911... but I've never been abused, I dont have a child, and I certainly don't have a dead child. Who the hell knows what anyone would do. We know what Casey did.
oh and my email is legallyfabulous1@gmail.com
This is absolutely the Year of Zilly. Time for the hat trick.
