Reeeeeeeeejected

Welp, it finally happened.
I checked the mail on Friday and received the first rejection letter from a resume I sent out.

I sent a resume and wonderfully written cover letter to an office that had not advertised a position.  Although I had heard that they were possibly hiring, apparently they aren't (at least according to the rejection letter).
And besides, even if they were hiring, there are just so many graduates looking for jobs right now. So I'm neither shocked nor devastated by the rejection, that's just how it goes.

And actually, it's kind of nice to receive an actual rejection letter (who woulda thought?!). Most firms/offices don't even bother rejecting you (at least in my little experience)... they just leave you to wonder if they ever even received your cover letter that you spent time crafting for them. (By the way - how annoying is that? At least let me know you're rejecting me instead of leaving me to wonder if I addressed the envelope wrong and you never even saw the resume/cover letter that looks exactly like the hundreds of other resumes/cover letters you're receiving).

Today is a new day, and a new week, so there's no time to dwell on past rejections... only looking forward! I know it will all work out and something will come up... I just wish it would be sooner rather than later!

  2. Rejection sucks, even if it is NICE rejection.

Here's to something even better coming along! (It will. Promise!)

God, I hated when people said nice things to me when I was rejected.

    Boo hiss.

  3. I totally agree that I actually appreciate a rejection letter/email. It's like, "okay, thank you!" and moving on.

  4. My favorite thing about rejection letters is the part where they tell you how impressive your resume is and how qualified you are... before they go on to tell you that they're not going to hire you.

  5. Rejection is never fun, but I have to agree with you it's nice to at least get something so you know your resume/cover letter (and all the time/effort you put into them) aren't lost in the mail somewhere! This one wasn't meant to be, but I'm sure you'll find something awesome that you love elsewhere!

  6. Let me assure you that no only do firms send rejection letters, but they also send rejection e-mails, and probably rejection text messages if you requested to be contacted via text. Within a week of sending out 40 resumes, I received about 20 No's. They were sent on resume quality paper though so the joke is on them as soon as I figure out how to reuse their paper to send out resumes to other companies.

  7. I agree, I thinkk it is very rude for companies not to send out a rejections letter. At least let hte people who put in their time know what is or is not coming.

  8. Sorry to hear you didn't get the job. That just means it wasn't the right fit. I know that might not help but it's really true. And it was good to see you this weekend. We need to work out time for a Patron gang bang real soon.

  9. rejection letters are rough. i have a massive collection of them. i was even rejected from a job i didn't apply for! (i also got a letter than was no more than a check off list with an x in the box for why you weren't getting the job)

that said, i'm sorry to hear you didn't get the job. keep plugging - you'll find something that's right for you.
