It felt good to get back in the gym and back into a sort of a routine this week! Being home always throws everything off.
This week: - 1
Total: -14
I am super annoyed with these numbers. Yes, a loss is a loss. I know that. Better than a gain. Whatever. But I spent a lot of time in the gym this week. I KNOW that the problem with why I can't lose weight is because I eat like a linebacker. I realize this. It doesn't make it any easier to stop eating like a linebacker!
This weeks goals: Stop eating everything I can get my paws on. Also, today at the gym I am going to lift weights for the first time in probably three months. I need to get back into a lifting routine! Just my luck, Gina over at The Fitnessista posted a weight lifting routine today! I am going to start on that this afternoon. It's short and nothing I haven't done before, so it'll be a good addition to my regular 5 days of cardio per week! It's time to get this weight OFF and make a change in my body, damn it!
For those of you who care, this week's workouts:

Odds are you're drinking too much Diet Coke. Diet drinks taste sweet, which triggers your body to think there is a lot of food around, which of course makes you hungry.
ReplyDeleteYou're still operating caveman software in your brain, and that software is programmed to gorge whenever possible. You tongue doesn't discriminate between real and fake sugar, it just tells your stomach to rumble.
Try switching to black coffee if you need caffiene. You'll acquire a taste for it after a week or two, and it works as an appetite suppressant.
Actually I don't drink diet coke at all. Or coffee. I'm not sure what would have given you that idea. ?
ReplyDeleteI agree with the gyms being too crowded. I can't wait til February or March when I won't have to wait to jump on a machine!
ReplyDeleteYour workout on Friday makes my one hour of cardio last night look like a nap in the park. You've inspired me to step it up. Keep up the good work!
Great plan!
ReplyDeleteWay to stick to it! I love a little weight training, and you will start seeing a difference for sure if you add it to your regular routine! hang in there!!
ReplyDeleteI just started going to the gym again I guess last few weeks, and wow, your workouts put mine to shame! I love to eat too, but I usually only do 30 min of cardio either the bike, elliptical, or a circuit workout that lasts 30 min. Looks like I need to spend longer in the gym!
ReplyDeleteLegFab: What gave me the idea was that TONS of people trying to lose weight drink Diet Coke, and you said then you eat like a linebacker, and increased appetitive is a symptom of Diet Coke consumption. If you see stripes and hear hoofbeats, there's probably a zebra over there.
ReplyDeleteToo bad I was wrong though, otherwise you'd have a solution to your linebacker appetite. Perhaps you should try eating Lean Cuisines macaroni and cheese...not because it's low calorie, but because you'll immediately lose your appetite.
I love that you go to the gym with a plan each time and try to switch it up so it doesn't get boring. Your Weigh In Wednesdays are helpig me get motivated toward a better shape myself! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a trooper with your workouts and so dedicated! Very commendable! Keep it up, you're ALMOST ALMOST there!
ReplyDeleteGood job at the gym girl! I can barely make it on the stairmaster 15 minutes without dying!!! That machine is an ass kicker :-) I just ordered a Garmin 305 on Amazon and can't wait to get it. I'm gearing up for the Shamrock Shuffle in March.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on losing a pound! I know its frustrating when you feel you've worked hard and don't lose as much as you like.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of eating like a linebacker it sounds like you need to teach your body to know what hungry is again. I found that really hard but once you do it you'll eat less and feel less hungry. My big trick was when I wanted to eat having a big glass of water and doing something else for 10 min and then seeing how hungry a felt. Apples are amazing for making you feel full. And if you've tried all this stuff already keep plugging along!
I have been on a life long weight loss battle myself. I have 15 pounds to loose and I've been trying to loose that 15 pounds for SEVERAL years. My normal plan is working out a ton and then trying to do weight watchers. What ends up happening is I feel like all I am doing is thinking about eating because I'm planning for points then I end up giving up. Jan 1st I was trying to figure out a "new" approach so I can loose the 15 pounds before a big 10 year ann trip and I decided to only concentrate on eating 800 calories a day and not worry about working out until about week 3 or 4 once my body is use to the 800 calories. So far I have lost 4 pounds which is HUGE because I have a really hard time loosing 1 pound working out every day. The first couple days was hard but now I know what I can eat to feel full with few calories and it seems to be working. Just a thought??
ReplyDeleteYou worked hard this week! You go girl! Wouldn't it be nice to lose like 5 pounds a week after working so hard?! But, it just doesn't work that way. Unforch! Anyway, Congrats on the loss!
ReplyDeleteAnon: 800 calories a day is incredibly unhealthy. Aside from probably not getting enough nutrients or protein, not working out means your weight loss will contain too much muscle loss instead of fat.
ReplyDeleteAlso, when you start to eat more you'll find you put on weight faster because your metabolism will have slowed way down to compensate for having starved yourself.
That's an impressive cardio mix, LF. Take each lb in stride, because they will start adding up and you'll hit your goal in no time.
ReplyDeleteFor what it is worth, I have a ravenous appetite, but only indulge it on Friday's and Saturday's. It's not scientific, but has worked well over the last several months.
Keep at it:-)
