How I know law school has changed me...

So I was coming home from the gym at about 9:00 tonight (I love working out on Friday nights - the gym is so dead!), and as I pulled up to my building there were 2 cop cars parked in the circle drive and 2 more were pulling up.

My first thought?

"Man, I wonder if anyone needs a lawyer"

Not "gee, I hope everything is okay" or "hope there isn't a mass murderer running through the halls" or "hope no one got robbed!".
Nope, all I thought was that I could be living amongst potential clients.

  1. When I was volunteering for the public defender one of our clients actually was one of my neighbors. It's less exciting than you'd think.

  2. I can see the pink hued, glittery billboard...

Is your neck still sore from that car accident? Still upset over that wrongful termination?

  4. Being a social worker changes you too! My husband and I saw an older gentleman riding a bike on a main road last fall and Matt remarked that it was nice to see someone riding a bike and I snapped that he probably had too many DUIs to get a license:-)

  5. Just found your blog, its great. That reaction seems completely normal to me. LOL, I plan on putting magnets on the back of my business cards so I can just throw them out the window whenever I drive by the scene of an accident. That way they'll stick to the cars. ;)

  9. hahaha. I LOVE IT!
My 13 year old newphew is here in America visiting us from New Zealand (where suing is not the norm like here) and his favorite phrase this week has been "I will sue you" then he turns to me and asks if I can help him sue. Glad to see that is his view on Americans. But of course I will do what I can! :)

however, if you start having your daily coffee in the ER waiting room, you might need to reassess. :)
