Workout Buddy

Hi everyone!
Just a little words of workout wisdom from yours truly... I was talking to Mrs. It Is Everlasting this morning about how I've been getting my butt to the gym lately. She is proud of me, and I am surprised! :) I think the one thing that has been making a big difference for me is getting a workout buddy!
My friend Mike and I have had a standing workout date to go to spinning class every Monday at 6:45. I have class 9-5:30 on Mondays, so usually by the time I get home I am exhausted. Even if I have EVERY intention ALL day long of getting to the gym when I get home, by the time I get on the bus and head home, a huge wave of sleepiness rushes over me and I am heading straight to the couch instead of the gym. Knowing that my gym buddy is there and waiting on me means I can't head to the couch... I have to get my butt to class!

I usually get home at about 6:15 on Mondays, which gives me juuuust enough time to take Elle outside, throw some food in her bowl, change, and rush to the gym.
Last night I got there and as we were walking in to spin class my gym buddy Mike looked at me and said:

"I am exhausted and have diarrhea. I almost texted you to tell you
I was skipping today, but I knew you'd be pissed."

Hahah!
And the same would have happened if I had told him I wasn't coming... he'd be pissed at me!
SO - my advice to you trying to lose weight, train for a marathon, get in shape, or whatever... GET A GYM BUDDY! Convince a friend who lives in your area to join your gym (a must this time of the year in Chicago), or for those of you in warmer climates, find someone to go for runs or walks with. Plan ahead of time, make a standing date, and make sure you stick to it!

So there ya have it... my unsolicited advice.
Anyone have any other tips or tricks for making themselves get to the gym?
oh and p.s. - Mike did not shit himself during spinning last night. Phew.

  1. Monday and Thursday nights I have a workout buddy- such good motivation! I had cramps last night, and did not want to go, but I made myself b/c of buddy factor.
