Weigh-In Wednesday

Here we are again!

Lost this week: 0 (finals, I'll take it)
Total Lost: - 17

I have pretty much abandoned Weight Watchers. Instead I'm using the "Lose it!" app on my iphone and just counting calories. I think it's a little simpler. And it's free! Since free is about all that's in my budget these days (not even joking), that's lovely.

I worked out 6 of the last 7 days. Mostly because I'm supposed to be "studying" for finals, and I think between studying and working out, working out is the lesser of two evils.
Also, I didn't go out this weekend (again, supposed to be studying). No drinking = no hangover = no workout skipping. Who knew?!

Since I always get questions about what I did at the gym, here are my workouts from the last week:
Wednesday, 12/2: Nothing. Last day of classes followed by an enormous birthday dinner for my BFF, where I consumed a delicious piece of steak the size of a small child and a bottle and a half of wine. Happy Birthday to you, indeed.
Thursday, 12/3: 20 minutes on the stairmaster, 20 minutes run/walk on the treadmill, 20 minutes on the elliptical, 50 pushups
Friday, 12/4: 20 minutes on the stairmaster, 30 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike, 50 pushups, 50 crunches
Saturday 12/5: 25 minutes on the stairmaster, 10 minutes walking on the treadmill at 15% incline and 4.2 mph, 25 minutes on the elliptical50 pushups, 100 crunches
Sunday 12/6: Ran 3.1 miles in 36 minutes (stopped to walk twice for a minute each time), 20 minutes on stairmaster, 50 pushups, 100 crunches
Monday 12/7: 45 minute spin class, 30 minutes on the elliptical, 20 push-ups
Tuesday 12/8: The best workout of my entire life. (Not even exaggerating). 50 pushups, 25 crunches, 10 minutes on the stairmaster.... and I ran 3.1 miles in 34 minutes and 20 seconds.
.....

HELLO!!!! DID YOU READ THAT?! I RAN A 5K IN LESS THAN 35 MINUTES WITHOUT STOPPING TO WALK ONCE!!! I have never ran that long in my entire life. Even when I was playing varsity basketball in high school and weighed 25 pounds less than I do now. This is epic, people. EPIC.

I feel like I've been trying to lose this weight FOREVER. I started on January 3, 2009. It wasn't really a New Years Resolution as much as I went home for Christmas, stepped on the scale, and realized that HOLY SHIT I'd put on 15 pounds in the last year (in addition to the 25 pounds I'd gained in the few years before that).
I lost a little weight, then gained some back, then slooooooowly started losing it again.
Over the last month or so I feel as if my body said to me "hey, you're not drinking 10+ vodka tonics a night 5+ nights per week anymore. Thanks!" and is starting to cooperate. Hallelujah.

So there you have it.

  7. ahh, I need to stop the holiday drinking because THat is WHY I am not losing...and perhaps I am probably gaining!
Um, AND I THINK Wed. 12/2 Sounds like ONE HELL OF a time!
I, like you have been working out almost daily because right now, It is more appealing to doing my work...and doing my work is much like your studying these days. Reading and research is much like studying for LS finals, I am sure of it.
CONGRATS on the 5K!! I put 2.5 minutes back onto my 5K time yesterday. I blame Oprah. I got sucked into her show.

  8. Congrats on the running thing!! I LOOOOVE running, but usually have to stop and walk anywhere between 1-3 times during my 45 minute run. I'm also extremely jealous of the iPhone app. Just another reason I NEED to have one. :)

    Congrats, sweetie!! xoxo
