Law students are hilarious

When you're in law school, you think a lot of things that are funny that really aren't.

1L year we had to write a memo about adverse possession (because apparently my super awesome law school with it's super awesome legal writing program couldn't come up with a more interesting topic). Everyone would make jokes about adversely possessing just about anything. (think "I adversely possessed your girlfriend last night"). Not funny, but sort of funny. 2L year we had to do oral arguments. I'm sure you can imagine the oral jokes that went along with that.

Last night, I received this g-chat from a friend who is my evidence class (at 11:30 on a Saturday night, might I add. Another super cool part about law school - staying in on Saturday nights):

Mike: have you learned which statements are against your penal interest?
me: there is nothing against my penal interest.

Yes, studying for evidence is absolutely hysterical.
God help me.

  1. hahahaha! I totally understand what you're saying! Just wait til the bar exam.. I remember when my friends and I got so sleep deprived and over-studied that we started acting out torts in order to study them.. and then rolled on the ground in laughter. Good luck with finals, girlie!! XOXO!

  2. ahhhh yes! I smiled reading this, as I study for my torts final tuesday. A friend of mine found a website with law school t-shirts, a few of the better ones "I adversely possessed your boyfriend last night", "I am a reasonably prudent person" or lastly "I feel an intentional tort coming on".... embrace the nerdiness :) it makes law school that much better!
