Thank you so much to everyone about your concern for my brother and his super scary situation.
Here's an update:
As more information comes out, the worse it gets. It turns out that the kid who was the ringleader has had SEVERAL situations on campus before.
He was arrested in 2008 for first degree criminal mischief, making terrorist threats, and felony aggravated assault. in an altercation involving a traffic accident with an Arkansas football player.
He was arrested AGAIN in May 2009 with FIFTEEN POUNDS OF MARIJUANA, and firearms. He had a hearing this morning in front of a judge but I apparently that was only related to the charges from May. He is still in jail and will have a hearing about the burglary of my brother's apartment. When they arrested him he had illegal drugs (steroids, pot, etc.) and illegal firearms on him. They are charging him in federal court.
I can't believe this kid has gotten in all this trouble and is still in school! How are people like this still out on the street?
There were 2 other guys involved (1 is still in jail, 1 posted bail), and one girl. Apparently the girl was the getaway driver. It actually turns out that she is a sorority sister of a family friend. What are the odds of that?
So anyway - that's the latest on that. I am going to visit my brother this weekend for parent's weekend and to go to the football game. I hope to God he's moved into a new apartment by then! Otherwise I will be snuggling up in between my parent's at their hotel room, haha.
Keep your fingers crossed that the judge does not give him bail.
Back to motion writing...
XOXO
Thanks for keeping us posted! Let's hope he stays in jail...
ReplyDeleteJust looking at his picture gives me the creeps knowing all he's done. So scary- how terrible for your brother :( How is he doing, emotionally? I would be a wreck!
ReplyDeleteHow is someone like THAT in school? I bet he is there for free too! It is not fair, but I knew about some kids at my college on a free ride who were NOT even close to being stellar citizens or proper students. Not very fair to students who are amazing, honest people, and have to pay their way!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to your brother!
Hopefully some media attention will help keep this guy locked up! You must know by now that media and Constituent pressure can do wonders in court!!
still in school probably to continue committing crime. This is a horrible thing for you and your family to go through, i do hope things start to improve for you and your brother...
ReplyDeleteDoes the school even know about all of this?
ReplyDeleteFingers, toes and everything else crossed!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, so scary!
ReplyDeletewow - this is so scary! wow.
ReplyDeleteThat judge better not give him bail! This is ridiculous that someone with that kind of history is still on the streets, still in school, anything. Terrorist threats? All I have to say is: He can get the heck out of this country if he doesn't like it!
