Big Weekend!

If you follow me on twitter (which you should), you already know that this weekend I am going to Columbus to watch my Fighting Illini take on the Ohio State Buckeyes.

I am hoping that the Illini will pull off a victory at the Horseshoe, like they did in 2007 on the way to a trip to the ROSE BOWL, but I am nothing if not realistic. They're most likely going to get their asses whipped.

I've been warned by several people that Ohio State fans are both crazy, and mean. We are going with a group of 10 - 2 girls and 8 guys. We are going to be hitting the bars early before the game, and we're all so excited. Someone actually told my girl friend that's going with us that she shouldn't wear orange this weekend. Give me a break. Obviously we're not going to be assholes showing up at the bar on Friday night in orange t-shirts and Chief facepaint, but we're going to wear orange to the game. I just hope no one runs their mouth off (both OSU fans and anyone in our group), because things could get ugly after 12 hours of drinking.

As I discussed with my friend Tony earlier today:

me: I hope I don't get beat up this weekend. I hear OSU fans are nuts.
Tony: i could tell you to keep quiet, keep to yourself, and not black out and you'll be fine...
but....
HA

My friends know me all too well.
Here's hoping nothing happens this weekend that will not allow me to be admitted to the bar. Anyone wanna serve as my emergency contact?

  1. I am so happy you get to experience a game at the 'shoe! It's truly amazing and I saw my first OSU game there long before I was actually a fan. You should wear your Illini gear and don't worry about the OSU fans, just remember that the younger the fan the ruder they tend to be. You may get some asshat 18 year old telling you that "you suck" but that'd be the worst of it. I was there for USC and the fans are pretty amazing. If you need any advice for bars to go to, places to eat, etc... just e-mail me. I lived in Columbus for 7 years before moving to STL. Have a great time, but don't be too sad when they lose! After all Tressel has a lot to prove after the USC loss and that 2007 game is always on our minds. ;)

  4. Your blog is cute! As a former Illini turned lawyer to another (well, kind of), I'm putting you on my reading list. Yay!
