Some friends from school and I went to Kuma's Corner today, a burger restaurant in Chicago that's apparently been featured on Food Network and is consistently regarded as one of the best burger joints in Chicago.
Here is the description from the menu for the May Burger of the month:
I am a HUGE wimp when it comes to spicy foods, so there was no way I was going to go here, but my friend that I went with ordered it. It was the biggest burger I've ever seen:
I got the "Metallica" (all the burgers there are named after heavy metal songs/bands) - it was a burger with buffalo sauce, bacon, and bleu cheese dressing. It was deeelish. Here's a pic of it:
It was really good. They also only stock local and "different" beers (meaning no Bud or Miller products!). I'm not a huge beer drinker and pretty much only drink Miller Lite when I do drink beer, so that forced me to branch out. Our waitress and my friends were really good about helping me pick out beers that I liked. They also had whiskey on tap! I've never seen that anywhere before. So of course we had to finish with a whiskey shot to toast being done with finals.
All in all - I would totally recommend going there if you're in Chicago, just plan to make a day of it. We got there with 5 people at 2:00 and didn't leave until after 4:30. It took forever! But luckily we're on summer break now so we had plenty of time to just sit out on the patio and enjoy it.
I need to go back to bed now... that was my only meal of the day and I am still SO full! I don't even want to know how many Weight Watchers points I consumed in that one sitting....
that is super funny that they had a swine flu themed burger.
ReplyDeleteThose look super delicious. I need to head to Chicago for some delicious food!
Oh my! That is quite a burger. At least it was your only meal
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! They have the best burgers. If you like calamari, you should try theirs too, the best I've had from a restaurant.
